Finding McDonald’s

I recall promising Tara and Rei a McD’s within walking distance of our home. I had no idea that Korea was so different from many other places in that there are relatively few of those around. Korean food is just so much better, healthier and more nutritious, especially when considered “gram-for-dollar”. There is a local franchise called Lotteria, which we often visit [last Saturday]. The local answer to McD’s serves up a fairly close equivalent, but the toys being the main attraction, the requests keep on coming. Consequently, Samantha and the girls donned their woollies and braved the Siberian wind (not that cold yet) and made their way to Ansan.

Having no WiBro hook up yet, and a cellphone with only a Korean version of the Cyberstation, the route has to be plotted before leaving home. It’s an hour by bus to Suwon. The subway is really cheap and convenient, trains arriving about every 8 minutes (try out the cyberstation, enter departing station: Suwon and destination: Jungang).

Each time I searched for Mac Donalds or a Lotteria, I kept getting WiFi Hotspot info. Geez, these folks are into the 22nd century already … grrr
